When we announced DIY’s inaugural music discovery festival back in December 2021, we were immediately hit by the Omnicrom virus clamp down and all publicity had to cease! With the April date set in stone and all artists sponsors in place it was foot on the peddle once restrictions lifted.
In the end on 23/24 April the sun shone on us in North East London’s Tower Hamlets. The weekend long celebration of emerging artists across three stages and an entire building dedicated to workshops and talks, live with artists, was attended by 1700 people in a warm and welcoming environment.
DIY Alive is a music discovery festival for fans and tastemakers of new music, emerging artists, student and music industry aspirants looking for careers in the related arts.
It is a showcase of the best of new music, plus informative workshops and talks by industry and artists themselves.
We adopt a very hands on and peer to peer approach via talks in a relaxed conversational environment.
These take the form of “DIY in conversation with..” and we had Self Esteem, Baxter Dury, Alfie Templeman, and even a sewing lesson from Lynks, all talking about their lives and careers, having a Q and A session with the audience.
A genuine alternative to conventional industry events, curated by an authentic and respected music brand which has built its reputation on music discovery and supporting artists careers over more than a decade, and is now increasing turning its attention to practical support for the D-I-Y generation.
DIY Alive is not just another DIY platform for connecting brands with our 1m+ GenZ and Millenial audience, it is actively involved in introducing the latest technology driven products and services to the D-I-Y generation and creating a new community for them.
So we were delighted to have supporters such as SyncVaut, Family in Music and crypto token $AIR and Vevo, alongside bar takeover by Brixton Brewery, blackstar equipment and Dr. Martens and artist gifting by Kombucha.
DIY continued its long term relationship with BIMM music school as they sponsored the workshops and education talks. and we gave their students valuable work experience and networking opportunities.
In turn we were delighted to support climate change charity Music Declares Emergency with fund raising raffle.
Sponsor logos were included in all poster marketing material, tagged in social media posts, included in a dedicated sponsor section on the DIYAlive.com website, posters throughout the festival, a sponsor meet and greet drinks session and included in an animated display on the main stage background.
