DIY joined forces with Dydd Miwsig Cymru – Welsh Language Music Day, for those non-Welsh speakers among us – to help celebrate their 2025 event!
DIY in partnership with Working Word, and Welsh Government , the day – which took place on Friday 7th February 2025 – is designed to shine a spotlight on the vibrant diversity of Welsh-language music, whilst immersing music fans in Welsh culture, and we are honoured to have been apart of those celebrations. And what better way to mark the occasion than by throwing a big party?
We took over East London institution The Old Blue Last on the day for a brilliant night of Welsh music courtesy of Aberystwyth trio Mellt, North Walian alt-poppers WRKHOUSE and Carmarthenshire-bred, Cardiff-based singer Gillie.

But the partnership was not just about the event itself, which was marketed across the DIY platform to sell out capacity. DIY also implemented a content campaign to shine a light on the Welsh music industry itself and the success and importance of the Welsh language in today’s modern music culture.

DIY conducted a series of interviews with key figures including BBC 6 Music’s Huw Stephens and up and coming artists, which were then published online and in print and pushed across social media, as well as across our B2B channels to 7000 industry, some of whom attended a pre event DIY mixer.
The event was sold out and not only was video content captured for Dydd Miwsig Cymru but each artist got their own edit for future carrer use.
