For the last three years, DIY has worked closely with the team at House of Vans London to produce a launch event for our annual Class of… issue.
Having previously featured the likes of Wolf Alice, Peace, Royal Blood, Years & Years, Bastille, Slowthai, and Fontaines DC, our Class Of… issues are entirely dedicated to highlighting the best acts in new music. Much like the BBC Sound Of Poll, DIY’s Class Of… is one of most anticipated events of the musical calendar for key industry tastemakers, while our Class Of… launch parties see us take over the iconic House Of Vans venue.
Coinciding with the launch of our December / January issues, our House of Vans shows see us invite three of our Class of… acts to perform in front of an intimate crowd of fans, providing them with an experience they won’t forget.
While our 2018 line-up saw Sports Team, Anteros and Lady Bird take to the stage, 2019’s edition played host to Do Nothing, Talk Show and Walt Disco. As well as the live show element, we also editorialise other areas of the venue, with a full photography exhibition and photobooth experience being made available for attendees to engage with.
In previous years, we’ve also integrated other brands into these activations, with the likes of Estrella Galicia, Sailor Jerry and 19 Crimes Wine providing alcohol for the events. We also work closely with BIMM to provide some of their students with key, on-the-ground experience at the shows.
