DIY has not had the opportunity to meet up with the SON Estrella Galicia international and music team since they sponsored The DIY Class of 2019 at House of Vans, so it was very special to join them at the launch of this new partnership, the first UK link-up for the iconic family owned brewery, and their dedicated music brand, which gives them a base to grow from in the UK market.
Since 2009, SON Estrella Galicia has created events that offer a twist on the traditional concert experience in Spain, Brazil, Portugal and The US, and now in London. Always more than just a gig, it encompasses the full experience of food, drink and music all in the one location.
Throughout the event, dedicated experts helped educate punters about Estrella Galicia’s “Pour Like No Other” – challenging people to pour the perfect beer, ready for consumption via sight, smell and taste. There were also specialist chefs on hand preparing traditional pulpo dishes – Spanish octopus with potato and spices.
In line with the brand’s mission to introduce the best Spanish talent to the international market, Basque post-punk quartet Belako set the scene for a night of exhilarating live music, beer culture and positive impact, culminating in a raucous set from feminist-punk party-starters Dream Wife the infectious energy of front person Rakel Mjölland the fuzzy shredding of guitarist Alice Go to bring the room to a frenzied climax.
Victor Mantiñán, Head of Global Music Sponsorship at Estrella Galicia said “We’re delighted to be partnering with Paper Dress Vintage. Passion for beer, positive impact and support for new talent are fundamental axes of the SON Estrella Galicia brand and with Paper Dress’ position at the forefront of promoting emerging artists in London along with their commitment to recycled clothing we’ve found the perfect partner. Since 2009, we’ve supported emerging talent with our SON Estrella Galicia experiences-frequently betting on new artists who end up as headliners and we see very bright futures ahead of Dream Wife and Belako”.
