Over the last five years DIY has co-curated and hosted two stages at SXSW in Austin Texas, featuring with a focus on emerging artists, but in 2019, DIY is added a third stage – this time in NYC, en route to SXSW.
Back then having previously used our visits to SXSW to showcase some of the best new acts around – including Dream Wife (UK), Goat Girl (UK), Starcrawler (US), LIFE (UK), The Britanys (US), Our Girl (UK), Slotface (NOR), Weaves (CAN), Party Baby (US) – we’ll now be doing it all again with our show at The Delancey, as part of the New Colossus Festival in NYC.
Billing itself as the new CMJ showcase festival and strategically positioned as a staging route for bands heading to SXSW, the New Colossus runs in March in a variety of Lower East Side venues ahead of SXSW . DIY utilised this opportunity to give artists the chance to add another gig, making their journey all the more worthwhile. Whilst DIY is already stocked in Rough Trade Records, this venture made our already existing relationship with NYC even stronger.
