DIY announced as UK media partner to the Wasserman Music and interactive livestreaming service Twitch initiative

Wasserman Music, a division of Wasserman, and interactive livestreaming service Twitch have partnered to launch There is Light, an indie music discovery channel and concert series. There is Light will present 20 live concerts from prominent, independent music venues in the U.S. and U.K., starting with a May 4 performance by Perfume Genius at the Lodge Room in Los Angeles. Future performances will be announced from Lafayette in London, as well as venues in New York, Washington DC, Chicago and other cities on the website.

Working alongside the Wasserman Music brand partnership team, DIY will  promote the programme across its multi channel platform driving fans to the  There is Light Twitch show channel, with the shows being broadcast on the home page of Twitch itself.

As we emerge from lockdown in the UK, there is optimism for local live events becoming reality. However with no international travel and festival circuit for the foreseeable future, the ability to play to a wide scale and international audience will need to remain strictly virtual.

The pandemic has hit emerging artists particularly hard, so we are delighted to team up with Wasserman Music to showcase some exciting young artists, many of whom DIY has supported from very early days, and to showcase them from the state of the art new London venue Lafayette , through the ground breaking entertainment channel Twitch.

There Is Light is an example of how the industry has changed, accelerated by Covid, with the bringing together of a global agency group, a new technology platform and international media partners on both sides of the Atlantic.

This programme has come together at such an important  key moment in time and is a perfect way for DIY to continue to show support for emerging artists and the wide music industry as a whole.

Other confirmed headliners include Best Coast, Cautious Clay, Creeper, Jade Bird, JPEGMAFIA, Orla Gartland, Porches, The Snuts, and Two Feet, with more to be announced. All performances are 100% live and free to view exclusively at https://www.twitch.tv/thereislight

There is Light concerts will take place on Tuesdays at 8pm ET / 5pm PT in the U.S. and on Sundays at 8pm BST in the U.K., starting May 4 and concluding on September 28. Each livestream will run 90 minutes, with a 30-minute pre-show featuring an opening act, followed by the headline performance. Following the headliner’s set, there will be a moderated Q&A where artists will have an opportunity to engage directly with their fans and the Twitch community. No live, in-person audiences are planned, though this is subject to change based on local COVID-19 conditions and protocols.

There is Light concerts are presented in promotional partnership with BrooklynVegan for U.S. performances and DIY Magazine for U.K. performances.
