DIY team up with Speakers for Schools for virtual work experience placements

As many work experience placements had to be cancelled this year – causing students to miss out on learning vital workplace skills – DIY has put together a virtual work experience programme run by Speakers for Schools for students interested in Journalism, Music and the Creative Industries. Our programme ran for a week, from 20th – 24th July 2020, hosted through Google Classroom.

Students joined the team behind DIY to learn the editing, interviewing and marketing skills required to build your own music media platform, spending the week creating exciting content for their own magazine. They learnt how to structure, organise and commission editorial while getting a glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes in one of the most fun areas of the music industry.

DIY remains committed to helping the next generation get into the wider music industry, through its Do It Yourself programme.
