TuneCore partners with DIY Magazine and Bandsintown to launch #IndependentAF campaign in the UK

Leading independent digital music company, TuneCore, has partnered with UK music publication DIY Magazine and #1 concert discovery platform Bandsintown to launch #IndependentAF in the UK. The artist-led campaign kicks off  March 2 on Instagram (@tunecore.uk) with a series of daily artist showcases from 24 UK-based TuneCore artists including Conor Maynard, IAMDDB, Scouting for Girls, Carns Hill and many more.

TuneCore is owned by Believe, the Paris-based digital music company. Believe currently operates in 45 countries and together the two companies distribute much of the world’s digital music. Launched in 2015, TuneCore UK artists account for the second largest share of the company’s roster (after the US). Head of TuneCore UK, Gareth Mellor joined in late 2020 to reimagine and further expand TuneCore’s presence in the region.

Mellor said “Being independent means many different things to many different artists,  and it’s clear that the landscape is changing. TuneCore artists are fiercely and proudly independent and that’s what this campaign celebrates. They own their own masters and are in control of their own careers. There has never been a more appropriate time to elevate independent artists and celebrate their successes, no matter where their journey takes them.

I’m thrilled that DIY Magazine, and Bandsintown have joined us to celebrate TuneCore UK’s #IndependentAF campaign and to spotlight so many amazing artists.”Said Rupert Vereker, CEO, DIY Music, “Covid -19 had a devastating and immediate effect on the young emerging artists we at DIY represent and champion. There has never been a more important time to provide ways for them to get their music discovered”

Christo Patricios, Brumanati MGMT, had this to say, Working with Conor [Maynard] and us being an independent artist / manager duo comes with its own challenges. Get it right (especially early on), and one will reap the rewards. Know where your music is, respect your art, don’t undersell yourself and take control of your career as an indie artist.”

TuneCore is offering a 50% discount to new artists in UK & Ireland and Bandsintown are offering a £50 credit to all new artists as part of the partnership. Head to @tunecore.uk on instagram for more details.
