Not only was DIY Music official media partner to the British Music Embassy for the 6th year in a row, but DIY magazine’s team were also scouring the stages for the best of the rest.
Having already developed the reputation for showcasing the best new British talent at the Austin, TX festival, the British Music Embassy returned for the 2021 virtual edition, with 35 brilliant new acts.
From post-punk to rap to dance to pop, this year’s online showcase last week showed some of the best that Britain has to offer, with acts including Connie Constance, Sinead O’Brien, 404 Guild, Baby Queen and loads more taking over Production Park Studios.

This year’s showcases were brought to you by British Music Embassy partners AIM, BBC, BPI, the Department for International Trade, PPL, PRS for Music and PRS Foundation, with further support from ATC, Belfast City Council, and yours truly – us lot at DIY.
Darkoo, Dead Pony, and Iceage also stand-out at this year’s SXSW online festival.
The British Music Embassy may have been one of the places to (virtually) be last week, but the beauty of SXSW has always been stumbling on some unexpected gems.
Taking place online for the first time, this year’s stumble was slightly different, now taking place via online “rooms”, but the gems were as shining as they would be IRL.
