DIY return to SXSW once again as official media partner to the British Music Embassy

After a year away and a year online, we are delighted to announce that The British Music Embassy, SXSW’s venue for break-out UK music stars, today can confirm its line-up for 2022 of the best new British music. BBC and DIY tipped artists Priya Ragu and Yard Act feature, as well as BBC Music Introducing Artist of the Year 2021 Self Esteem and YouTube star Strawberry Guy. Celebrated jazz collective Steam Down, grunge-pop singer songwriter Baby Queen and genre-bending duo Nova Twins join them on a bill that runs across 12 showcases and will be a triumphant in-person return for one of SXSW’s most renowned destinations.

Across 12 showcases running from 12th March to 19th March, the likes of Class of 2022 cover stars Yard Act, DIY’s Track of the Year winner (and former cover gal herself) Self Esteem, fellow Class of 2022 alumni CMAT and Priya Ragu, and former Class of… stars Baby QueenJelani BlackmanTalk ShowWorking Men’s Club and more will all be taking to the stage.

They’ll be joined by a huge array of other DIY faves including electronic genre-disruptors Jockstrap, viral sensation Strawberry Guy, Glaswegian firecrackers Walt Disco, South Africa’s Moonchild Sanelly and more. Cedar Street Courtyard venue for the 2022 BME shows

In 2022 the Embassy has moved from a 250-person venue to the700 capacity Cedar Street Courtyard, delivering a bigger-than-ever platform for the outstanding and diverse artistic talent UK music is known for.

DIY are thrilled to be continuing the tradition of not just presenting the DIY stage, that once again features many of the DIY Class of 2020/21 and 2022 artists, but also being media partner to the week-long British Music Embassy stage supported by the UK industry partners that share our purpose of supporting new talent. There has never been a more important time for emerging artists to get in front of the key industry members from around the world.

Industry partners include AIM, BBC Music Introducing, the BPI, the Department for International Trade, the MMF Accelerator programme, PPL, PRS for Music and PRS Foundation.

The British Music Embassy is the official UK residency at SXSW, the music, film and interactive
festival and conference in Austin, Texas.
